Introduction

My Football Sim is a turn-based, browser-based, text-based, online multiplayer American football simulation game where you assume the role of Head Coach and compete against other coaches in virtual football leagues.

Turn-Based

Most leagues have a "one-a-day" simulation schedule, which means that one game is simulated once a day. This gives you plenty of time to manage your team between games. Turbo Leagues currently have a "two-a-day" simulation schedule.

Browser-Based

The game is played entirely through your browser. This means that there is nothing you need to download in order to play the game.

Text-Based

With the exception of a few humble icons and logos here and there, there are no graphics in the game. When a game is simulated, you "watch" the game by reading the play-by-play commentary that was generated when the game was simulated.

In this manual and throughout the site, there are certain terms which are mentioned repeatedly. It's important that you're familiar with the context in which these terms are used so that a clear line of communication can be established between yourself and the Dev Team. Below is a list of the most commonly used terms and their meanings:

Glossary of Terms

Coach - This is the role you assume and how we refer to each other in the game. I'm a coach, you're a coach - we're all coaches. Sometimes used in place of "user".

The Game - This term refers to My Football Sim as a whole. (Example: We have just added two new features to the game.)

MFS - This is the acronym for "My Football Sim". It is usually used to refer to this site and/or the game.

Leagues - These are the things you join - they can be joined by any coach, free of cost.

Active Leagues - Leagues that have started. No more users are allowed to join the league once it becomes active.

Pending Leagues - Leagues that are open for users to join.

Finished Leagues - Leagues that have finished.

Closing Date/Start Date - When a pending league reaches its closing date, three things happen: 1) No more users are allowed to join it, 2) the draft auction gets processed, and 3) the league goes from "pending" to "active".

Season (League-Specific) - A league's season starts the moment it reaches its closing date and finishes when its MyFS Bowl is simulated.
